We’ve compiled a quick list of some of the more impressive, creative, or fun CSS examples out there. This is neither ranked in order of importance nor chosen with any real rationale — they simply crossed our path and got plunked down here.
Plus, we’re not responsible for any of these sites…in any sense of the word. We had nothing to do with their creation, we don’t own the content or the domain, and we sure as heck aren’t responsible for anything you and they may do with each other when our backs are turned!
W3C (http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/) — of course, you must know W3C, the daddies (and mommies) of CSS. This is an essential first AND last stop on your CSS journey, with introductory tutorials as well as the all-important validation service. Plus, an exhaustive compendium of usage and syntax — you really need this site bookmarked, you know.
Web Developer’s Handbook (http://www.alvit.de/handbook/) — a huge mass of CSS resources, among other website tools and information. The organization is a bit…well, who are we kidding, there really is very little organization. But click on any link and you’re nearly guaranteed to find something that will improve or enhance your abilities.
Similarly, Holy CSS Zeldman! (http://www.dezwozhere.com/links.html) won’t hold your hand while you search his collection of links, but you’ll end up wanting most or all of them as you design and build.
A List Apart (http://www.alistapart.com/topics/code/css/) has long provided the web community with valuable bits of useful genius. The CSS section is no exception; in the extremely unlikely event that you don’t find a wonderful way to solve your current problem, you’ll find something fascinating that you WILL use in your next project.
CSSPlay (http://www.cssplay.co.uk/index.html) — no, it’s not about dressing up in Japanese costumes. It’s about great — and occasionally unexpected — uses for CSS, including many bits that you can copy for your own nefarious purposes.
